The poetry of David Mura has been praised for its verbal music, its contradictions of rage and reconciliation, and its curious sense of hope in a world riven by racial and cultural differences. Of his first book, After We Lost Our Way, Amy Clampitt said, "The range and force of his evocative gift are counterbalanced by a quick intelligence and a redemptive and surprising tenderness." In The Colors of Desire, his second book of poems, Mura explores the connections between race and sexuality, history and identity, through the lens of desire. From an Issei farmer's lament for an America he knew before internment to a French prostitute who speaks of her Asian lovers, the various voices of these poems reveal how cultural desire shapes personal history and how collective history shapes individual desire. In the title poem, Mura assembles a collage of memory and history that links America's racism to our sexual culture, whose pornography equates whiteness with beauty and color with degradation. In the longest sequence of poems, "The Affair," Mura portrays an obsessive, destructive adultery between two married lovers, an Asian-American man and a Caucasian woman, that unmasks the painful conflicts among sex, race, and fidelity. Confronting the promise of a multicultural America, Mura ends the book with a series of poems addressing his legacy to his daughter. In "Gardens We Have Left," Mura contemplates how his daughter will inherit both his father's internment and his own rage over assimilation as she fashions her own identity. As he traces his family's path from a Japanese village to America, Mura sees the "rocking unbroken joy" of love in his daughter, who becomes his "hymn to America." TheColors of Desire offers a powerful meditation on the nature of desire within the matrix of race and culture.

i am obsessed with this moisturizer: the price is affordable and it works beautifully. it's like a lightweight serum compared to thick moisturizers. it has clean ingredients, no fragrance, and leaves my skin feeling so soft with no greasiness

I’m enjoying it!
I’ve really been enjoying this moisturizer so far. It feels lightweight, comfortable, and absorbs nicely into the skin without feeling greasy or heavy. I also love that it is fragrance free. My skin feels hydrated throughout the day, and it layers well with the rest of my skincare products. I also use the matching face wash and toner from this line, and together I’ve been very happy with the overall results. My skin has been looking smoother, healthier, and more balanced since incorporating these products into my routine. One important thing to note is that this moisturizer does not contain SPF or sun protection, so make sure to apply a separate sunscreen during the day if that’s important for your skincare routine. Overall, I think this is a great everyday moisturizer and I’ll continue using it.

Lightweight moisturizer, worth it.
Love it! Its lightweight and silky. Makes my skin feel hydrated and smooth. I apply after cleansing my face..can't say if it actually provides 80hr moisture. So far so good. Would repurchase.

This is a pretty good moisturizer, im not sure if this gave me bumps on my face or it’s just a breakout, perhaps from one of my makeup brushes. Overall very moisturizing, doesn’t really have a sent, it is a little bit thick but not super thick.

I really love this moisturizer, I started using a retinal and since i usually dont ease into it, my face does get dry and flaky. I was using a different one and it would work for a little while then i would feel dry a while after. Thayers actually feels like it kept my face moisturized even the next morning. It took a couple days to feel it best because my face was already dry from the retinal, but after once my skin soaked it all in it felt great. Its thin, soft and light, not heavy. No scent other than the normal unscented lotion smell. I use it day and night. 14 dollars was questionable, but its so worth it.
