  • A research-driven photobook exploring lost and traumatised places
  • Sam Doctor’s photographic practice ruminates on humanity’s fragile relationship with the environment by researching specific instances of catastrophe, desecrated landscapes, and the effects of technology and industry
  • The publication Temporal Terrains contemplates Doctor’s work over the last decade and offers an opportunity to follow the threads that run through different photographic series. It explores the traces and permutations of environmental decline, playing out on contested sites from Vietnam to Japan, from Thailand to Australia. These photographs, most of which have not been exhibited before, accumulate into an immersive but damning narrative: they capture the incidental quality of the ongoing trauma of colonialism and the manipulation of the natural world. The sites harbour multiple temporalities: once privileged sites of capitalist extractivism and power generation, valued and vaunted by nation states and civic authorities, many are now abandoned and abject, official embarrassments to be hidden; once thriving communities with rich traditions, some are now trivialised locales mined for the tourist dollar
  • Doctor’s approach evokes a disquieting contrast between man-made ruinations and the visual beauty of the photographs themselves, as presented in the stunning landscapes of the Kawah Ijen sulphur mine in East Java, Indonesia, the abandoned Mary Kathleen uranium mine near Mount Isa in Queensland, Australia, and the Hang Dong Quarry near Chiang Mai, Thailand. This paradox emerges again within the exclusion zone of the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan. Temporal Terrains documents Doctor’s explorations into these desecrated landscapes
  • The large format publication offers a visual essay of the artist’s investigation, as well as an enlightening essay by Associate Professor Dr Jacqueline Miller

Sam Doctor graduated from Sydney University, Sydney College of the Arts with Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) in 2006, and completed a Masters of Research in Visual Arts in 2013. Doctor has shown at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art and at the project space at CACSA, Adelaide. Bought for my upcoming European Vocation
Style: Type E/F-Germany France, Style: Type E/F-Germany France
I need a European plugadapter to use in Cruise. It seems to be permitted in a Carnival cruise line. This things has a super short power cord, so that it can hang a bit below a European wall outlet. That's a good design so that you won't block the neighbouring outlet. it's lightweight so I can put it in my baggage. the USB C ports is an essentials as it seems that other USB ports are not allowed to use in Europe after a few years. Anyway, this things is recommeded

Great for keeping family passports organized while traveling
I bought this for our family’s recent trip to Europe after struggling on a previous trip to keep track of everyone’s passports. Last year I was constantly worried about losing one or forgetting where I put them, so having everything in one place made a huge difference this time. This holder fit all four passports perfectly and still had room for cards and even a spot where I could clip my keys inside. It ended up being one of those things I used constantly throughout the trip at airports, hotels, train stations, and checkpoints. As long as I had the case with me, I felt confident all four passports were where they needed to be. The material feels durable enough for travel, and the zipper worked smoothly the whole trip. The black color also looks clean and professional without standing out too much. Pros: Holds four passports comfortably Helped keep travel documents organized Durable feel and smooth zipper Extra storage for cards, cash, or keys Lightweight enough for travel Gave me peace of mind during a busy international trip Cons: Slightly bulkier than necessary for minimalist travel Could be slimmer for people who only want passport storage without extra pockets
