The theme of the book is pertinent because the settings in which we must live out our Christian commitment will test our sense of who we are in God’s gracious plan for our lives. The theme of this book is also programmatic in that the author not only isolates, identifies, and illustrates the means by which such an experience of God is gained, but shows how that experience is to be shared.
