Libec Professional Video Tripod System: The Ultimate Off-Ground Field Kit (NH20 / QL40C / BR-2B / FP-1B / RC-30)

In the fast-paced realms of independent filmmaking, corporate video production, travel documentary creation, and live event recording, unpredictable terrain is the norm. Traditional ground spreaders work wonderfully in a flat studio, but when you step onto hillsides, rocky landscapes, stairs, or uneven outdoor terrain, you need a highly specialized support package.

The Libec Professional Video Tripod System—meticulously configured with the advanced NH20 dual-base fluid head, the ultra-lightweight QL40C carbon fiber quick-lock legs, the adjustable BR-2B mid-level spreader, a set of FP-1B large rubber feet, and the heavy-duty RC-30 padded transit case—is engineered precisely to conquer challenging environments. With a fine-tuned payload capacity of 4kg (8.8 lbs), this complete production system is highly suitable for mirrorless cameras and lenses, compact DSLRs, small digital cinema packages, and modular multi-accessory vlogging setups.

NH20 Video Head: Stepped Counterbalance for Smaller Cinema Setups

At the heart of this nimble system is the Libec NH20 fluid head. Built from a premium multilayered metal structure drag unit, it brings high-end, smooth engineering to a portable travel format.

  • 5-Step Variable Counterbalance: Rather than employing a fixed internal spring that jerks when tilted, the NH20 utilizes a 5-step selectable counterbalance dial (including a "free" zero mode). This lets you calibrate the internal tension to match the exact center of gravity of your small mirrorless setup, letting your rig float seamlessly at any tilt angle without slipping.

  • 3-Step Drag Selection: Modulate pan and tilt friction resistance across three stages to capture slow, cinematic panning sweeps or rapid panning adjustments with predictable control.

  • Extreme Temperature Resilience: Backed by specialized internal silicone compounds, the head functions flawlessly in severe weather conditions ranging from -40°C to +60°C (-40°F to +140°F).

  • Cross-Platform Dual-Base Platform: The NH20 bridges gear gaps via a unique hybrid 75mm half-ball and flat base design. Drop it into the 75mm bowl of the QL40C legs for instant leveling, or unscrew the bottom bowl clamp to bolt the flat bottom directly onto linear sliders, jib arms, or skater dollies.

QL40C Legs: Multi-Layer Carbon Fiber with 1-Flip Quick Locks

A high-performance fluid head requires an unyielding, twist-free foundation. The Libec QL40C carbon fiber tripod legs deliver industry-leading efficiency. Constructed from high-modulus, multi-layer carbon fiber, these twin-tube 2-stage legs offer superb vibrational dampening and exceptional torsional rigidity.

  • Patent-Pending Upper Quick Locks: Traditional video tripods force you to bend down and unlock two separate twist knobs or individual flip levers per leg. The QL40C eliminates this bottleneck with a single, top-mounted flip-style Quick Lock lever per section. Flipping one single upper lock extends or collapses both leg stages simultaneously, minimizing setup times.

  • Ultra-Lightweight Profile: Thanks to high-grade carbon pipe construction, the tripod legs weigh a mere 2.2kg (4.8 lbs) while maintaining a massive structural payload rating of up to 40kg (88 lbs), ensuring zero flexing under load.

BR-2B Mid-Level Spreader: Conquering Uneven Surfaces

What elevates this configuration for demanding outdoor work is the inclusion of the Libec BR-2B mid-level spreader. Unlike floor spreaders that fail on unlevel ground, the BR-2B anchors to the middle of the tripod legs, allowing them to adjust independently at different angles.

Constructed from highly engineered, reinforced composite material, the BR-2B features an adjustable sliding range of 63mm. This allows you to position one leg on a boulder, a curb, or a higher stair step while keeping the rest firmly anchored, keeping the tripod structurally rigid and protected against twisting forces.

FP-1B Large Rubber Feet: Uncompromised Studio Traction

When taking this mid-level spreader configuration indoors onto polished studio floors, slick gymnasium surfaces, or delicate hardwood pavements, the included Libec FP-1B large rubber feet are essential.

This 3-piece proprietary foot set slips effortlessly over the tripod’s native heavy-duty steel spiked feet. The broad, textured rubber base increases traction dramatically, completely preventing slipping and micro-movements during panning sweeps, while simultaneously shielding delicate interior floors from scratches. When heading back outside into dirt, gravel, or mud, the rubber boots pull off in seconds to expose the metal spikes.

One-Touch Sideload Camera Plate & Advanced Ergonomics

  • Instant Snap-In Plate: The NH20 features a one-touch snap-in quick-release camera plate system. Instead of feeding a camera from the back of the head, operators can drop the setup straight down from above. The sliding plate provides +/-30mm (1.2") of adjustment range, making it effortless to balance front-heavy telephoto zooms. The plate is fully compatible with Manfrotto and Sachtler 75mm heads.

  • LED-Illuminated Bubble Level: A integrated push-button blue LED clearly illuminates the level bubble, allowing for square horizons even in pitch-black theatrical venues or night-time exterior environments.

  • Dual Accessory Ports: The main tripod casting features multiple 1/4" and 3/8" thread ports, allowing you to rigidly attach articulated arms, external monitors, or wireless video transmitters without cluttering your camera rig.

  • RC-30 Professional Case: Transport is covered by the premium Libec RC-30 padded carrying case. Constructed from weather-resistant ballistic nylon, it boasts dense internal padding to safeguard the carbon weave and fluid head from side-impact damage.

Worthwhile read.
Format: Kindle
The first few chapters would perhaps been worth 10 stars the remaining chapters not so much although it was good information. It became a bit monotonous but all in all it’s still a five star book.

Open our eyes
Format: Paperback
I recently finished reading Joash's very insightful, inspirational, and encouraging book.  I hope it is read and implemented far and wide.  His interpretation of Jesus and "the church" is as close to the spirit of Scripture as I can find.  Twenty years ago, I read "Jesus and the Disinherited" by Howard Thurman that led me to places and situations and cultures and events which were not part of my own life's context. It was Jesus' context and I began to understand his lessons through his eyes instead of my own.  Joash, like Howard Thurman, is right - we colonized, Caucasian, Western civilization folks just don't get it.  But we should and we need to. Open your mind to read this book and see things through God's eyes. Thank you Joash!! We should all look for ways to extend this teaching to others. "...thy will be done, on Earth [all of earth and humanity] as it is [and will be] in Heaven.

A Bold, Pastoral Call to Decolonize the Gospel
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
When I began my journey of theological deconstruction, I quickly realized that shedding the harmful elements of conservative white evangelicalism wasn’t enough. The deeper I went, the more I saw how white Christianity remains entangled with colonial narratives that uphold social and sexual hierarchies and distort the liberating truth of the Gospel. Rev. Joash Thomas’s *The Justice of Jesus* is the book I didn’t know I needed. His voice has profoundly shaped my theological imagination, and this work is a masterclass in liberation ecclesial theology. With clarity and courage, he names the perversion of white, colonialist, slaveholder theology and invites readers to confront its lingering presence in our churches, our pulpits, and our lives. What sets this book apart is its balance of prophetic fire and pastoral tenderness. Rev. Joash never veers into cynicism or outrage for outrage’s sake. Instead, he offers practical, Spirit-led guidance for reclaiming the Gospel from the sin of colonialism and whiteness. He casts a vision of Eucharistic unity, a table wide enough to defy empire and deep enough to hold our collective liberation in Christ. This book emboldened me to use my voice and privilege to pursue the decolonization of theological practice in my own context. I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone seeking a Gospel that liberates, heals, and restores.

Un libro necesario para la iglesia hoy
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
As a believer from the Global South. As a child who first heard the liberating message of Jesus through integral mission in Latin America. Yet, over the years, I was also exposed to a highly colonized version of the gospel—one that increasingly abandoned the most vulnerable and aligned itself with a form of Christianity distant from real human needs. Reading this book restores my hope, not because change will come quickly or easily, but because it opens the space for the necessary conversations of reevaluation. Joash, in a very direct way, lays out the causes and effects of inherently unjust colonizing systems that have broken entire societies, and shows how these systems have permeated the way we live out the gospel of Jesus. By bringing these to light in various areas, he challenges the Western church to reconsider its practices, to move alongside the oppressed, and to become aware of its own shortcomings. At the same time, he reminds us that hope remains, that we have much to learn from the Global South, and that there are many silenced voices that must urgently be heard.

Generous, inclusive, and deeply Christian.
Format: Paperback
What an amazing book this is! Joash Thomas challenges western Christians to sit in dialogue with global south brothers and sisters, and to be willing to learn from them. If justice means everyone having what God wants them to have, then why is justice not a priority for so many of us? Never scolding, and never despairing, Joash walks us through the lessons we could take away from such a meeting, and offers actual strategies for incorporating "justice work" into the lives of western churches. A MUST READ!
