In March 1942, approximately 75 to 80 percent of all victims of the Holocaust were still alive. Eleven months later, 75 to 80 percent were dead -- the result, according to Christopher R. Browning, of "a short, intense wave of mass murder" centered in Poland. One German unit of just over 450 men, Reserve Police Battalion 101, was responsible for the shooting of 39,000 Polish Jews and the deportation of 44,000 more to the Treblinka death camp over a period of 16 months.

In this chilling and stunningly powerful work, Browning describes how a group of average men became the cold-blooded murderers of tens of thousands of Jews. Drawing on a judicial interrogation of 210 members of the Battalion in the 1960's, he paints a portrait of the soldiers who took so many lives and comes to a disturbing conclusion about the universality of such barbarity in our world.

Christopher R. Browning is a professor of history at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. He is a contributor to Yad Vashem's official twenty-four volume history of the Holocaust and the author of three books on the subject.

"A remarkable -- and singularly chilling -- glimpse of human behavior ... This meticulously researched book ... represents a major contribution to the literature of the Holocaust." -- Andrew Nagorski, Newsweek

Soft but Thinner Than Expected
Color: Pink, Color: Pink
This cashmere scarf is very soft and pleasant to the touch. The color is really nice. It is not too bright and is a bit darker than in the pictures, but still very close to the description. What I did not expect is that the scarf is not very wide and is quite thin. Because of that, I was a little disappointed.

A pricy scarf, but worth it for its warmth and softness
Color: Pink
Came in a box that would look like it was be used as a gift. Scarf was really soft and warm and the color matches the imaged shown on the product images. The length and size was true to what was said. Gave this as a gift for valentines day and the other person was happy to receive and and like it as well. I will say that the price of the scarf is pretty pricy but I guess that's why you have to pay for a pretty good quality scarf.

Cute, warmth and quality!
Size: Small-X-Large, Color: Undyed Beige, Size: Small-X-Large, Color: Undyed Beige
Comfortable, cute and kept me warm, but not too hot. The cashmere felt great, extremely soft, and it didn’t mess up my hair like a synthetic hat can. We were out in subzero weather, and this baby did its job!

Perfect fit for a small woman or teenager
Size: Small-X-Large, Color: Light Gray
I think this beanie is a great price for the quality. It’s about as soft as wool can possibly be. I was very impressed by the packaging. It made me feel like I was opening a luxury item, which is nice because it was reasonably priced. They even included a bit of extra yarn in case it needs repairs someday. It does fit a bit snug. I have a small head, so it might be uncomfortable for someone with a bigger head. I definitely would NOT buy this for a man. It’s comfortable for a small female only, or a teenager. Overall, I think it’s a good hat for the price.
