New Wood Quality Standards 

At Pangea Reptile, we care about the quality of your experience more than anything. For 2026, we are implementing new quality standards for our wood products to ensure that you receive the best possible reptile wood pieces for your next terrarium project. 

Every wood product that we ship to you must pass these new quality standards before it is deemed fit to ship. Wood pieces that fail to pass these checks are set aside and not shipped to you. 

Sizing Standards 

Our sizing standards ensure that each piece of grapevine tunnel wood that you order from Pangea Reptile will fit into a certain size range, based on what option you select: 

Wood is naturally grown and never uniform, so we offer sizes within a certain range band. Please note that when sizing, we always measure the longest dimension of the piece. 

Quality Standards 

In addition to the size checks, we also appraise the quality of your wood product based on whether or not it passes the following quality checks: 

Is the tunnel a semi-circle with a flat bottom? 

Tunnels are typically designed to be in a half-circle shape so that reptiles can use them as a natural hide. We will only send flat-bottomed, semi-circular tunnels to you. 

Does the tunnel have enough space for a reptile to hide under? 

Grapevine tunnels are used as hides far more often than other kinds of wood on offer, so your reptile’s ability to hide under it is a special consideration. 

Is the tunnel free from embedded metal? 

Since the industry standard for growing grapevine is to let it climb on metal wires, there are rare cases where the wood can grow around the wire and become embedded with it. We carefully inspect each piece so none of this metal-embedded wood is sent to you. 

Is the piece free of sharp edges? 

Metal isn’t the only sharp thing that can be in a piece of grapevine wood. We ensure that your grapevine tunnel does not feature excessively sharp edges that could potentially harm you or your reptile.
