肉骨茶的說法起源於以前華人前往南洋創業的時候，因為生活條件不好，對於南洋濕熱的氣候相當不習慣，所以很多人就得了風濕痛。當時人們天天煮藥，但因為忌諱說藥所以就叫做「茶」。有一天煮茶的時候偶然把豬骨掉到茶湯中，結果發現這個湯喝起來非常的香濃，別具風味，同時也燉煮排骨來增加體力。就這樣經過不斷的演化，就成了當地著名的美食了。
