058-036-15 includes a 1200N gas spring which lifts the boom when the kicking strap is released, opening the leech of the sail. Excellent for trimming the main in light air. A Rodkicker with a gas spring replaces the topping lift, making reefing fast and simple.

Another purpose with this rigid vang is to facilitate sail handling when reefing, preventing the boom from dropping into the cockpit or onto the coach roof. It also doubles the purchase of your kicking strap. Kicking strap is not included.

The right size of Rodkicker, and correct spring force, is determined by the displacement of the boat, the righting moment at 30° heel angle, the boom height above deck, the length of the boom (E-measurement) and whether the mast is of conventional type or a furling mast.
