And while I always had a sense of what I liked, I never learned what things were called, or how to bring that vision to life. My guess is that you have a strong sense of style as well, and know how you want your home to feel even if it's hard to articulate sometimes.

I've been obsessed with design ever since I was a kid. And while I always had a sense of what I liked, I never learned what things were called, or how to bring that vision to life.

My guess is that you have a strong sense of style as well, and know how you want your home to feel even if it's hard to articulate sometimes.

While it is important to learn basic design principles, we still need to understand what look and feel we are trying to accomplish in the first place. We have to know where we are going.

I believe that learning about and understanding your preferred design styles is a good first step in being able to actually achieve that vision in your home.

There are lots of great resources out there. There are comprehensive design books, design articles, quizzes, take your pick.

But I never found one resource that broke down a lot of design styles, while also providing enough examples to help me get a feel for what I liked.

I realized that what I wanted, and what I thought would be most helpful was a little bit of background on each style, and then tons of examples so someone could see for themselves and react to the various spaces, getting in touch with what they liked and didn't like.

I made the thing I wish I had fifteen years ago when I first started on this journey.
