Frederick Cowles - The Horror of Abbot’s Grange and Other Stories, Muller 1936, 1st Edition with Original Dust Jacket.

Introducing "The Horror of Abbot's Grange and Other Stories" by Frederick Cowles, a rare and enchanting first edition with its original dust jacket. Published by Muller in 1936, this captivating hardback book is bound in grey cloth with striking green lettering, exuding an air of mystery and allure. With 255 numbered pages, including an additional printed page at the back, this volume holds within its pages Frederick Cowles' debut collection of ghost stories, dedicated to Dom Cuthbert Formby, evoking memories of their delightful days at Cambridge, sharing spine-chilling tales.

Printed in Great Britain by Sherratt and Hughes at the St. Ann's Press in Manchester, this book carries the craftsmanship and attention to detail that exemplify the era. Now, let's delve into the stories that await within this remarkable volume: "The Horror of Abbot's Grange," "The House on the Marsh," "Room for One," "The New Inn," "Terrible Mrs. Greene," "The Mandarin's Chair," "The Haunted Church," "The Castle in the Forest," "The Bell," "One Side Only," "Guardians of the Dead," "The Unfinished Tower," "The Headless Leper," "The Pink Columbine," "Passenger from Crewe," "The Ring," "Eyes for the Blind," "Treasure Trove," "The Limping Ghost," and "The Thing from the Sea." Each story offers unique thrills and chilling moments that will captivate fans of the supernatural genre.

While the covers exhibit a remarkable state, with only slight curling at the top and bottom edges, adding character and charm, it's worth noting that there is some minor foxing and tanning on the pages, which adds to the vintage ambiance of the book. Pages 249 to 251 bear a minor tear at the bottom right, similar to the tear observed on pages 245 to 248. Additionally, there is minor folding damage to the top right of pages 241 to 244. Despite these imperfections, the essence and readability of the stories remain intact, offering a captivating reading experience.

Accompanying the book is its original dust jacket, which, as expected, displays signs of wear, adding an authentic touch to its historical significance. However, to protect and preserve this rare gem, the dust jacket has been lovingly encased in a plastic archive film.

"The Horror of Abbot's Grange and Other Stories" is a remarkable collector's item, a testament to Frederick Cowles' talent and the enduring allure of ghostly tales. With its rare first edition status, original dust jacket, captivating content, and a collection of haunting stories, this book holds a special place in the realm of supernatural literature. Discover the eerie narratives and immerse yourself in the chilling world that lies within the pages of this treasured volume.

This is a lovely book and rare, it is Frederick Cowles first collection of ghost stories and is dedicated to Dom Cuthbert Formby, in memory of some happy days at Cambridge when we used to tell ghost stories.

Good quality and good value for money
Color: 1 Blue and 1 Orange
Love this pickleball paddle set very much because: 1, the quality is great. I’ve purchased two other paddles. The two paddles in this set are satisfied. The feeling of holding them is good and the sound when they hit the pickle balls is satisfying. It’s not heavy, probably due to the honeycomb and carbon fiber material. 2, the colors are pretty and the color patterns are good designed. It’s easy to find our paddles. 3, this set is a good value for money. It contains two paddles, four balls, and a bag. You get everything with good quality with the money for one paddle. Overall, this pickleball paddle set has good quality and good value for money. Worth trying.

Great
Color: 1 Pro White
This new pro-level paddle is an absolute revelation, truly earning its five-star rating. My control instantly improved; dinks became effortless and drops landed precisely where I aimed them. The textured surface generates incredible spin, allowing for shots with wicked curve and dive. Power is readily available, transforming drives into piercing rockets across the court. Even during extended rallies, its balanced feel and quick handling keep me agile at the net. The sweet spot is incredibly generous, providing surprising forgiveness on less-than-perfect contact. It feels remarkably durable, shrugging off aggressive play without a scratch. This paddle doesn't just play well; it feels like a natural extension of my own hand, elevating my entire game. Seriously, if you're looking to upgrade your performance, this is the paddle you need.

I got this pickleball paddle set for my husband and I to try and learn how to play this new popular sport. My first impressions of the rackets are they have a nice, solid feel to them but without feeling heavy. So solid yet lightweight would be an accurate description I think. After playing several rounds with my husband the grip still felt comfortable. Oh and I like the sling bag that comes with it. The bag is big enough to hold all the pickleball essentials. I noticed when we were practicing that the rackets seem to be responsive and easy to control. The rackets are constructed of fiberglass and polypropylene and I have not noticed any issues with them so far everything is intact just like new. It also comes with a few balls to get started. I would compare them to whiffle balls as they are very similar in shape and size. I am happy with my purchase of this outdoor pickleball set. It is a good value for the price, and a good starting point for beginners.
