The title should be self-explanatory. As in other such fanhistorical compilations, the story of these early UK conventions is told in the participantsÕ and observersÕ own words, with explanatory and bridging commentary by Rob Hansen himself. A second volume will continue the saga to early 1957. Already published are 1957: The First UK Worldcon (volume three) and 1965: The Second UK Worldcon (volume five or six, yet to be determined),

The cover photo from the London Festivention (1951) shows the editors of six of the seven SF fanzines then being published in the UK. From left to right: Mike Tealby (Wonder), Derek Pickles (Phantasmagoria), Fred Robinson (Straight Up), Walt Willis (Slant), Bob Foster (Sludge), Vince Clarke and Ken Bulmer (Science Fantasy News).

First published as an Ansible Editions ebook for the Trans-Atlantic Fan Fund site on 1 June 2023. Approximately 63,000 words. ALL PROCEEDS FROM PAPERBACK SALES GO TO TAFF.

From Rob HansenÕs Foreword: ÒSurprisingly, there were five conventions organized, announced, and held in the UK during World War Two despite travel under wartime conditions being a difficult and sometimes dangerous affair. For example, the train taking Cardiff fan Terry Overton to one of those conventions pulled out of the station during an air raid as bombs rained down on his (and my) home city. The NORCONs were only cons in the most basic of senses but 1944Õs Eastercon was the most ambitious convention the UK had ever seen, as you will discover.Ó

Great ball for heavy chewers
Style: Assorted Balls (Pack of 3), Size: 2.5 inch
Great toy for my Doberman. She chews through tennis balls in about 15 minutes but these are very durable. She likes to chase them but also just chew on them.

Durable
Style: Fetch Balls (Pack of 2), Size: 3 inch
Very bouncy. I like the noise it makes when you throw it. Pretty durable. Good size. Dog loves to play with them. Good material. Easy to use.

My dog loves glowing fetch at night!
Style: Glow Balls (Pack of 3), Size: 2.5 inch
Fantastic. Sturdy. My dog loves them Glow in the dark is great for fetch at night. I keep a flashlight with me because the glow doesn't last really long. But they charge very quickly and are really bright.

Indestructible
Style: Fetch Balls (Pack of 2), Size: 3 inch
These balls are indestructible! We have a lab and a lab mix and they CANNOT damage these balls. They love them for fetch and to just chew on them (slightly squishy, but NO damage). Best toys we have bought for them.

Great trial set. Just be careful throwing the orange one!
Style: Assorted Balls (Pack of 3), Size: 2.5 inch
Blue isn't that easy to see in the yard White charges with bright light/UV and is truly a game changer for night-time fetch. Both dogs clearly favor it. Orange is easy to see in the grass at day They're 3 different weights as well, so double trial. I prefer medium for my big dogs, though light performs well too The orange is HEAVY and unyielding. Do NOT throw it with a ball thrower. It could damage your house or knock your dog out. Seems tough though.
