Citipati Skull 108 Yak Bone Mala -Reminder of ImpermanenceThis Yak Bone Skull Mala is inspired by the Citipati of Vajrayana tradition, the sacred reminder of impermanence. This Yak Bone Skull Mala is inspired by the Citipati of Vajrayana tradition, the sacred reminder of impermanence. In Tibetan culture, the skull is not a symbol of darkness, but of awakening. It teaches that life is precious because it is temporary, and that beyond birth and death, all other troubles are small.
Material Beads: Aged natural yak bone
Bead Size: Approximately 9 mm
Carving: Hand-carved Citipati (Skull) design
Process: Traditional carving & cypress smoke treatment
Cord Options: Elastic cord or traditional cotton cord
Spacer Elements: Black sandalwood, Yak antler, Coconut shell, Tibetan Agate
Each of the 108 beads, approximately 9 mm in size, is shaped from natural aged yak bone and hand-carved by skilled artisans. The beads are carefully shaped for balance, then carefully finished by hand, so no two are ever identical. Natural bone grain, pores, and slight variations are part of its authenticity. This is not polished perfection. This is living material.
Over time, with wearing and handling, the yak bone becomes smoother and develops a warm, jade-like luster. After traditional cypress smoking treatment, the raw odor is reduced and the bone is protected from cracking. A faint natural scent may be present at first and gradually fades. Sensitivity varies from person to person.
The mala can be strung on elastic cord or traditional cotton cord and may include elements such as black sandalwood spacers, yak antler accents, coconut shell details, and a Tibetan Agate bead. Every material carries a primitive, grounded character. Rough. Mysterious. Honest.
This is a Tibetan-style hand carving simple and powerful. Its beauty is not in refinement, but in truth. With time, what is polished is not only the bead, but the heart of the one who wears it.
Wearing this mala is a quiet meditation: nothing in this world is permanent. Cherish your time. Release attachment. Walk your path with awareness.
