Overview

Australian Valve Group (AVG) PTR25-1000-LF 25mm (1") 1000kPa PTR Pressure and Temperature Relief Valve (also known as TPR valve) is Australian Watermark approved and intended for commercial hot water service applications, with a high kilowatt rating of 132kW.

Pressure and temperature relief valves, known PTR valves are critical mechanical safety devices for all hot water services. The temperature sensing probe monitors the hot water service's temperatures. AVG PTR valve temperature probe is covered in a Teflon wrap to prevent any calcification build up overtime and to ensure long term accuracy. Inside the AVG PTR valve body, there is a piston mechanism that opens according to the pressure inside the water tank.

During the operation of the hot water services, the volume of the water will expand during heating cycles, as cold water heats up. This increased pressure can be dangerous if not regulated. The PTR valve regulates the pressure slowly dripping the water out of the tank in a controlled manner, usually via a discharge pipe into a drain or ground. Therefore, when the slow dripping is observed, it is just a perfectly normal PTR valve operation.

When there is a malfunction with the heating component or the thermostat in a hot water service, an uncontrolled heating can be extremely dangerous and explosions can occur catastrophically. PTR valve can detect this when the temperature and pressure exceed 99 deg or its preset pressure ratings. In this case, PTR valve will fully open and dump hundreds of liters of water to relieve the water heater tanks. The Kilowatt rating of the PTR valve refers to the rate that the PTR valve can dissipate this energy and this is regulated by Watermark and plumbing codes in Australia.

When a high kilowatt PTR valve rating is required in a commercial installation, a smaller sized 15mm or 20mm PTR valve must not be used as a cost cutting method for safety reasons.

Treasure!! The best!!
I had been using Avene Compensating cream for years before it was reformulated and renamed as “Revitalizing” in (as I remember) 2020. At the time, every single comment I saw complained about its pilling and its getting worse after reformulation. Every single comment wished for the old formulation back. Because Avene Compensating was PERFECT for me, I got very anxious after reading the comments and decided not to purchase the new Revitalizing cream. I jumped around from products to products for the last 2 years (from expensive La Mer cream, Cle de peau La Creme, Lancome soft cream, Amorepacific Time Response to less expensive Clarins Hydra, Embryolisse). Nothing beat Avene Compensating cream. Nothing came close to Avene Compensating cream in terms of giving my easily irritated skin that clear, well moisturized, trouble-free, healthful look. Fast forward to the week of Thanksgiving 2022 after I got back from a Las Vegas trip with terribly dry and dehydrated reddish skin that nothing helped (and I always use sheet masks daily), I decided to give Avene Revitalizing a try. Worst case scenario, I would waste my $40 that I, very likely, would otherwise waste on another non Avene moisturizer. I’m so grateful I gave it a try. I don’t know if Avene listened to its loyal customers and brought the old formulation back, or if they improved the new formulation that pilled, but the Avene Revitalizing cream (I tried both rich and regular versions) did not pill at all for me and as far as I can still remember, Avene Compensating cream felt the same to me. After 2 nights of Avene Revitalizing, my skin is pretty much back to normal now. I think this is the old formulation but I can’t say for sure because it was more than 2 years ago when I last used the cream, but no matter what, if it keeps being what it is now, I will be a customer for life. Please Avene. Don’t change formulation again.
