The lobed leaves emerges a brilliant wine red and earns maroon markings as it matures before darkening with brown hues in fall. Airy clusters of white and pink bell like flowers bloom on dark red spires in late spring with some reblooms in summer and fall attracting butterflies. Best bloom in partial sun and moist well drained soils.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low maintenance.  Potential issues include powdery mildew, rust, leaf spot, and frost heaving of roots if winter temperatures fluctuate widely.  Will grow slowly in heavy shade.
