What is a tubular latch?
Tubular latches are spring assisted door mechanisms used on internal doors that do not require a lock. As well as a wide range of finishes to choose from, tubular latches also come in a variety of quality grades which will ensure you can find the perfect option for your specific needs. Measured by calculating the distance between the middle of the spindle hole and the edge of the latch, there are five industry-standard sizes for tubular latches to choose from, ranging from 64mm up to 152mm. Standard tubular latches are not compatible with most mortice knobs, are best suited for lightly used sprung lever handles. Heavy-duty tubular latches are a more durable option and are ideally suited for doors that undergo more frequent use. Due to most mortice knobs being un-sprung, a double sprung tubular latch is essential when fitting a doorknob.
