MILES DAVIS QUINTET - Round About Midnight ( SPC949 )

Speakers Corner - LP AUDIOPHILE PRESSING 180g

"'Round About Midnight" - Miles Davis (tr); John Coltrane (ts); Red Garland (p); Paul Chambers (b); Philly Joe Jones (dr)

These early recordings, which Miles Davis made for the Columbia label in 1955 and 1956, are finally available on LP again. And, even more importantly, they were made without alternate takes or second takes, as is customary these days.
You can sit back and enjoy the six tracks in the order the producer, presumably in collaboration with Davis, decided. Sure, all the titles are well-known and have been performed thousands of times in many different versions. But what this Quintet (and here we mean every single player!) produces in terms of inventiveness, thrilling improvisations, and mastery is absolutely first-rate. Davis's vibrato-free sound is flawlessly captured by John Coltrane—wonderfully demonstrated in the middle of "Bye, Bye Blackbird," while Paul Chambers's highlight is "Ack Värmeland du sköna" (aka "Dear Old Stockholm"). In 1955/56, bebop was all the rage, as evidenced by Tadd Dameron's classics "Tadd's Delight" and Charlie Parker's "Ah-Leu-Cha." Here, however, the improvised melodic veins are more moderate, paving the way for the style that would later become known as modal jazz.
While 'Round About Midnight' as an album doesn't enjoy the reputation of 'Kind Of Blue,' this Columbia recording contains many gems worth listening to.

Extremely poor quality. Too flexible!
Size: 1000 Teaspoons
Poor quality, flimsy, barely strong enough to stir my coffee. Not strong enough to use for eating even semi-solid food. Too much flex!

Strong and Durable, Great for Large Garbage Cans
Scent: Unscented, Size: 50 Count (Pack of 1)
I’ve got a large garbage can for a big family, and in the past, every other brand of bag I tried would always slip down when filling it, turning trash day into a messy nightmare. I finally decided to look for a heavy-duty, extra-large bag and found these 30-gallon Glad bags—and I’m glad I did. I even tested three different brands to see which one I liked best, and these came out on top by far. They’re rip-resistant, strong, and extra roomy, making them perfect for a busy household. Even if they’re a little more expensive than other bags, the durability and reliability make them totally worth the extra cost. No more wrestling with sagging trash bags!

Been Using These for Years
Scent: Unscented, Size: 50 Count (Pack of 1)
I have been using these Glad 30 gallon ForceFlex trash bags for years and they never disappoint. The black color looks clean, they are thick and strong, and the unscented option is perfect if you do not want artificial smells. They hold up well with heavy trash, resist leaks, and the drawstrings make them easy to tie and carry. Great quality and worth the price.
