The Whittet-Higgins SC-30 is a two-piece (split) shaft collar machined to inch dimensions, used to create infinitely adjustable shaft stops, shoulders, and axial location of bearings and other power-transmission components. Its clamshell design assembles around the shaft and is drawn tight by hardened alloy socket head cap screws, so it can be installed or repositioned without removing adjacent components from the shaft.
This mechanical self-locking clamp grips both soft and hardened shafts far more securely than a set-screw collar, resisting loosening from vibration, shock, and torque while eliminating any need to cut or repair a shaft keyway. The carbon steel collar carries a black oxide coating with a wax finish for corrosion protection and pairs with a hardened alloy fastener tightened to the suggested torque for its size.
SC-30 is manufactured in the USA and is RoHS compliant, with a maximum operating temperature of 300°F.
