Mullen Mouthpiece
The mullen mouthpiece is a very mild unvarying mouthpiece that puts pressure on the tongue and lips, as well as slight pressure on the bars depending on the size of the horse's tongue.
This bit is often useful for horses with a very soft mouth who don't like complicated mouthpieces. It can also be helpful for horses who back off the contact and need extra confidence in the bit.
Hanging Cheek Snaffle
The hanging cheek provides poll pressure, which has a head lowering action. However, if the horse is going forward into the contact with active hindlegs, this encourages a round outline.
When a contact is taken, the upper arm becomes angled forwards which causes the mouthpiece to lift. This suspends the bit in the horse's mouth and reduces the pressure across the tongue and bars, which often makes this bit suitable for sensitive horses.
The soft transition between the mouthpiece and the rings prevents pinching and also helps the bit remain stable in the horse's mouth.
The Beris Mullen Eggbutt Hanging Cheek Snaffle is available in 13cm or 14cm in a hard or a soft mouthpiece. Dressage legal.
