“Miamba is an old southern Barossa vineyard site, once owned by Orlando and replanted by Grant Burge in 1983. This straightforward shiraz would match an oldfashioned steak and kidney pie well. There’s succulent, spicy berry fruit, a hint of meaty reduction, and the palate is medium bodied, with fresh acidity and drying tannins” Cuisine Magazine

The first thing you notice is the colour of this wine, like many 2015 reds from the Barossa; it is vibrant purple with very good depth and intensity. The aromas exhibit raspberry and liquorice, complemented by warm spices. The palate mirrors the aromas, with medium to full bodied red berry fruits that elegantly melds with the acid and tannin to produce an extremely well balanced wine.

The basis of the fruit supply for this wine is sourced from a vineyard of the same name, located at the southern end of the Barossa, near the town of Lyndoch. The Miamba vineyard has a long viticultural history, but when Grant bought it in 1983 it was completely bare.

After crushing and de-stemming, the fruit was fermented in a combination of open and static fermenters and pumped over 3 times per day for 6 - 10 days to achieve optimal flavour and structure. Several batches of the Shiraz were pressed directly into new French and European oak hogsheads and allowed to complete primary and secondary fermentation in oak. These components remained in oak for 10 months prior to blending with the unoaked components. The entire blend was then transferred back into oak.

Compact & soft cap
Color: Dark Navy, Size: One Size
Great fall/winter hat if you’re looking for something that’s not too bulky. I wanted for a winter hat that I could just keep in my inside pocket of my winter jacket - problem was the pocket was not very big. I had another knit cap that just did not fit in there. The Danish Endurance beanie fits the bill! Being so thin, it is not my warmest beanie – but gets the job done! It also feels so soft. I bought another in a different color! The hat arrived with a few creases in it. You could steam it, but don’t really notice any wrinkles when you put it on. I wish they made it in a darker gray/charcoal.

Soft but flimsy
Color: Dark Navy, Size: One Size
Its soft and warmth is ok, but it feels very thin and a bit flimsy. The knit at the top looks particulary fragile. I think for the price this is still ok value but I do not expected it to last a long time.

Cashmere but far too thin
Color: Dark Navy, Size: One Size, Color: Dark Navy, Size: One Size
The beanie feels soft and genuinely made of cashmere, but the fabric is surprisingly thin — almost transparent when held to the light. It lacks the warmth and structure you’d normally expect from a cashmere item. The design and packaging are pleasant, but the overall impression is disappointing. It’s comfortable to touch yet too delicate to provide real protection against the cold.

Cool hat.
Color: Dark Navy, Size: One Size
This is a nice little hat. Even though it’s really thin, it does seem to keep my head warm. Really haven’t tried it out in the wind yet. But saying that you could put another hat on top of it.
