Alpîne has redesigned the Field Collar by substituting a square for a round ring - so this is our version of what is commonly known as a safety collar. These collars have no D-ring to attach identification on purpose. They are designed to minimize the chance of a dog's collar getting caught on a branch or fence etc. I know from experience that this can happen - it happened to my bull terrier, so this has become one of my favorite collars. It is simple - you can attach the leash and ID to the square that is elegantly positioned in the middle of the collar and at the back of the dog's neck.
It just so happens that because there are two sections of the collar - we can offer it with two colors! And to keep the end of the collar secure we have added a contrasting keeper.

MEASURING: All our buckle collars have 5 holes spaced 3/4" apart to give you a little leeway in the size and weight of your pup. If you order a 16-inch collar, 16" will be the middle hole. We measure from where the buckle meets the leather or Biothane to the middle hole. If you would like help measuring please let us know. We are happy to help!

OUR HARDWARE: We use exceptional quality, heavy low-lead solid brass hardware from BuckleGuy. All of their products go through extensive testing to allow us to have confidence in the durability of their products. The biothane is riveted with solid brass rivets set with a hand press. (IF you are not a fan of rivets we offer a leather and Biothane option that is hand-stitched.)

WHAT IS BIOTHANE?: It is a coated webbing made in the US. It is available in many vibrant colors and is more durable, stronger than leather, waterproof, and easily cleaned. Biothane doesn't pick up odors so it is 'stinkproof' and the colors don't fade. It has been used in the saddlery trade in England for halters, bridles, and reins for many years and is now available in the US. A customer pointed out that even though it is not reflective, it may be more visible to drivers when walking along roads. Ideal for playing in the snow, at the beach, hiking, walking in the woods and mountains, or along small country roads. It's the perfect material for all your outdoor adventures!
