But the silver bead on this bracelet is special because of it's commemorative* markings: The bead bears the inscription 2010 because 2010 was a Holy Year in Santiago (Xacobeo 2010) because the Feast of St James (always on 25th July), fell on a Sunday. In these special 'Años Santos' or Jacobean years, pilgrims can go to mass in the Cathedral in Santiago to obtain a plenary indulgence, which is said to absolve their sins.
Description: This unique Camino de Santiago bracelet features the commemorative bead, which is hand-fashioned by craftsmen in Galicia, northern Spain (close to the Way of St James route) mounted on finest Italian leather cord alongside four 925 silver beads and sterling silver ends. It measures 7.5ins (19.5cms) in length PLUS there is a 5cm extender chain so it is suitable for most wrist sizes.
