Sie eignet sich für milde Klimazonen, in denen die Temperaturen nicht dauerhaft unter –15 °C fallen, verträgt verschiedene Bodenarten, jedoch keine Staunässe, und sollte moderat mit Langzeitdünger versorgt werden. Empfohlen werden zwei vorbeugende Weißölbehandlungen im Winter sowie zwei breit wirkende Insektizidbehandlungen im Sommer. Geschnitten wird vom Sommer bis Ende Oktober mit einer gut geschliffenen Heckenschere.
