Die überaus positive Resonanz auf unsere erste CD und die Doppel-Vinyl-Ausgabe mit den Original-A- und B-Seiten der Singles veranlasste das Label die Veröffentlichung von 'Hot Buttered Singles 2' diesen Monat vorzuziehen, um der wiederum großen Nachfrage gerecht zu werden. Diese Ausgabe setzt dort an, wo Vol. 1 mit Hayes' letzter Single von 1972 endete, und führt seine 7inch-Story bis 1976 fort - zu diesem Zeitpunkt existierte Stax bereits nicht mehr, und Hayes' Label Hot Buttered Soul war bei ABC Records unter seinem eigenen Label tätig. Acht US-R&B-Chart-Hits, darunter die oft gesampelten Songs 'Hung Up On My Baby' und 'Chocolate Chip', Hayes' größten Hit dieser Zeit 'Joy' sowie das allseits beliebte Instrumentalstück 'Disco Connection' von 1976, mit dem Hayes nach 'Shaft' endlich seinen zweiten britischen Top-20-Hit landete. Alle Tracks entsprechen den Original-Single-Edits und stammen, soweit möglich, aus digitalen Aufnahmen der Original-Single-Master von Enterprise. Wo die Original-Singles zweiteilig waren, ist dies auch hier der Fall. Und wo die Original-Single-Master nicht mehr existieren, wie etwa bei zwei Tracks, haben die Toningenieure von Ace sie Beat für Beat aus den längeren Albumversionen rekonstruiert. Wie bei Vol. 1 sind die LP-Innenhülle und das CD-Booklet vollgepackt mit Labelfotos, zahlreichen weiteren Abbildungen und einem ausführlichen Begleittext mit detaillierten Informationen zu den Songs.
