Jahrgangsbericht

2022 startete in Kalifornien relativ trocken und mild. Dadurch trieben die Reben bereits recht früh aus, zum Teil sogar schon Mitte März. Auf den warmen April folgte ein kühlerer, ausgeglichener Mai – die Voraussetzungen für die Blüte der Reben waren also perfekt. Durch die wechselhaften Temperaturen im Juli, die von kühl und nebelig bis hin zu warm und trocken changierten wurde die Traubenreife je nach AVA bis zu einem ganzen Monat nach hinten hinausgezögert. Während dieser Zeit bildete sich die aromatische Tiefe und Komplexität der Trauben. Auf den warmen August folgte Anfang September eine 10 Tage lang andauernde Hitzewelle in Kalifornien, die die Traubenreife der bis dahin noch nicht gelesenen Trauben druckvoll ankurbelte. Weine aus Kalifornien zeichnen sich 2022 durch ihre Dichte und Konzentration der Frucht aus, sowie durch ihre beeindruckende Balance.
