Vermehrung: Teilung, Aussaat
Herkunft: Bolivien, Brasilien, Kolumbien, Ekuador, Peru
Standort: epi- und lithophytisch auf der Ostseite der Anden, in feuchten und nassen  Tropenwäldern in Höhenlagen von 100-300m.
Anmerkungen: Laut Orginalbeschreibung duftet diese Art während der Blüte nach Vanille, um den richtige Bestäuber anszulocken.
Das von Poeppig als Typusexemplar bezechnete Exemplar wurde in Brasilien bei Ega (heute Tefe) gesammelt, das am Río Solimoes an der Mündung des Río Japura liegt. Dieses Herbar ist heute verschollen und trotz gründlicher Suche konnten keine Duplikate gefunden werden. Daher wird eine zweite Poeppig-Sammlung aus Yurimaguas in Peru, die von Engler in seiner Revision von 1905 zitiert wird, hier als Lectotypus bezeichnet.
Dabei gilt es, die enorme geografische Distanz zu beachten.
