* Der Bildhauer und Designer Harry Bertoia entwickelte während der 1950 Jahre verschiedene Möbeldesigns für den amerikanischen Hersteller Knoll International. Der erfolgreichste dieser Entwürfe sollte der Diamond Chair werden. Schon zuvor hatte sich Bertoia auch in seiner bildhauerischen Arbeit auf die Verarbeitung von Metall spezialisiert; seine Möbelentwürfe beschrieb Bertoia als "Studien in Raum, Form und Metall". Der transparente Diamond Chair entwickelt vor allem in Verbindung mit dem bunten Sitzkissen eine geradezu skulpturale Präsenz und setzt so in jedem Raum klare Akzente.
